Difficult Interview – Overall Positive Experience – No – Sun, 26 Oct 2014

Interviewed Apr 2014 in Pune(took 20 days)
Fast response. Had applied in their portal. Qualified the written design test but messed up in the telephonic round. Time for the written test was 24 hrs. Telephonic round was tricky. Hard to concentrate on who was asking the questions. Was interviewed by a panel on 3. One was a foreigner. Within 7 days I got a mail which said my profile is on hold.

This is my experience of interview for an internship. First meeting with HR and the Chef de Produit. They explained the mission and I introduced myself, background and experience. Second interview with the department manager who askee more about my hobbies and why do I want to join Ubisoft. I am not a hard player but they didn't seem to have a lot of problem with that. It's probably because of the game I was going to work for - a dancing game without much strategy like other games from Ubisoft.

How much do you like to dance? Are you afraid of dancing in front of other people?

Interviewed Feb 2012 in Montreal, QC(took 21 days)
I applied online on the website, and it took a couple of weeks before I had any news on the subject. Once I had the phone call that my profile was interesting, it was only a matter of days before the whole process completed. There was a phone interview with the recruiter Then there was a skills test to do at home Then there was an interview with the teams interested with my profile. Quickly thereafter there was the negotiation phase, and that was it. Pretty straightforward in my case.

Interview Questions
Tests at Ubisoft don't expect you to answer all the questions, there are a lot of questions in many area of the trade in order to highlight your strong points and your weaknesses.

Easy Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – 1 of 1 found this helpful – Sat, 24 Jan 2015

Interviewed Jun 2014(took 180 days)
This is a write up for the San Francisco development team. Standard process: Phone screen with HR - The HR contact, Shawn McGrady, was forthcoming with a significant amount of information about the process and what I could expect going forward. He was very helpful with information about staffing needs for the studio, current staffing, projects that were hiring for the position (without details about the actual project - keeping confidential info close to his sleeve until an NDA was signed), some details about the technology being used for the projects. He was forthright about how long the process would likely take - 6 months. (And was spot on in his estimate!) Asked standard questions: Relevant previous experience, why Ubisoft, why was I looking for a new position, strengths/weaknesses, etc. Phone call with who would be direct supervisor - Standard questions about production experience. Conversation about exposure to both on and off site internal teams, communication style and channels, communication process, problem solving skills, experience with outsourcing and insourcing, how I evaluate for improving processes and come to a strategy, mentality about how to work with a team and leadership qualities, my thoughts on communication style for studios - open/semi-closed etc. On site with who would be direct supervisor and studio head over lunch - There was a little more information about the project, not enough to know exactly what it was, but general things - genre, play style, production phase status and upcoming challenges. They were very open about studio culture information, discussion about what games they were currently playing, the good and bad about those games. It was clear that the studio is one full of people who enjoy games and who want to make great games. This seemed to mostly be about communication style, passion for games, and fit in the production group and project leadership. Onsite with leads in the studio, most from the project I was being targeted for - 6 hours of mostly individual meetings with about 8 people. List of folks to chat with was HR Manager, Tech Lead for the studio, Studio Creative Director, Lead Designer, Associate Producer and Production Coordinator, Senior Producer and Studio EP. A lot of the questions were about what I thought I could help them with/how I could make an immediate impact, and in particular my communication style - open and frank. A few questions from folks about why Ubisoft and why SF in particular. And a LOT of talk about games. What I was playing at the time, what they were playing at the time and our thoughts on and experience with each. The full day interview included an off site lunch, and conversation over lunch was mostly about communication style and culture fit - not specifically about production and work but a general fit for the studio.

Interview Questions
All questions were pretty standard. No real curve balls.

Average Interview – Overall Positive Experience – No – Sun, 22 Feb 2015

Interviewed null -1
Hiring process is rather fast for a big company. A few hours after sending my cover letter and resume, I was invited to a phone interview. After that, I was scheduled for a 24-hour questionnaire, which involved critically assessing a game I have played before. Less than a week after that I was contacted for an interview with lead designers at the studio. At the point of writing this I am scheduled for a second interview.

Interview Questions
Tell me about yourself. After this question the interview kind of turned into an enjoyable conversation regarding game history, game components, life as a game designer and life at Ubisoft.

Interviewed Feb 2015 in Sakai, Osaka(took 21 days)
Was contacted by email which then progressed into a Skype interview/talk. From there they set me and art test which was based on two 8 hour sessions. After the art test I was then invited to the studio which they nicely offered to pay for travel. At the studio I was expecting to have a tour but instead it was an actual interview, they put right into a meeting room and then asked me a series of questions about my experience, my future and what games I play. All together I was interviewed by a total of 9 people in three different sessions, one after the other. I asked my prepared questions and then was shown out without seeing the studio at all. A week later I was offered the position. All very smooth and they were very welcoming. I was just very unsure about the environment before I actually started.

Applied through a recruitment company. Took two weeks to get an interview call from the recruitment company. Technical interview was scheduled with the lead developer in Abu Dhabi. But on the interview day, it was again with HR person in Abu Dhabi. Again technical interview was scheduled after two days. First time, I observed a 1 person interviewer in a big company. Usually it is a panel. And the interview lasted for 10 minutes, only 3 questions. Looks like the interviewer did not want to process the interview. And its been two weeks and no update yet.

One general over the phone interview and then another face to face interview. Wasn't called after. However they were very polite. Many places don't even call you if they don't want to meet you for a second interview, they called and said it was a pleasure to meet you, however we won't be moving forward with you (something in those lines)

Easy Interview – Overall Positive Experience – Yes, and I accepted – Fri, 15 May 2015

Interviewed Feb 2015 in Bucharest(took 60 days)
First I did a short HR phone interview, then a 2 hours written (technical) test (a really long test to do in 2 hours), a longer HR interview and two technical interviews also by phone (20 min each, with different Lead programmers). I applied through the graduate program, on December of the previous year. I will say, based on my college classmates who also got answered and those who don't, that they do no consider candidates who haven't done an internship.

Interviewed Feb 2015 in Singapore(took 14 days)
I saw the posting for a QA Intern 1) Applied via the Job Portal 2) Received an email a week later scheduling an interview 3) Interview was pretty long, consisted of two portions - A QA Test, where you had to review and report the bugs of a pretty old game, name the parts of hardware and spot the differences between two given images. 4) A 2 on 1 interview was then carried out, the interviewees were very nice in understanding not everyone had similar experiences. 5) Awaited a reply, did not receive an offer. Could have sent out a rejection email for closure.
